Events Press releases

The extraordinary schedule of the Salon international du livre de Québec 2021 (Québec City’s international book fair) was announced on February 17, 2021, during a virtual press conference at the Québec City Convention Centre, in the presence of Salon international du livre de Québec (SILQ) Director General Daniel Gélinas, Mayor Régis Labeaume and Pierre-Michel Bouchard, President and CEO of the Québec City Convention Centre. The SILQ book fair will run from April 7 to April 30, 2021.

As an event partner, the Québec City Convention Centre is pleased to host this innovative virtual edition based on the Auteur.e Studio concept. This literary event will be filmed from a studio and a stage equipped with giant screens set up in the Convention Centre’s safe, versatile spaces.

Interviews with respected authors adored by readers, such as Ken Follet, Marc Lévy and Margaret Atwood, will be conducted by highly-talented facilitators live from the Québec City Convention Centre webcast studio. Beyond the big interviews, this virtual literary magazine will plunge viewers into a unique universe and will integrate artistic and original performances of the authors’ works. This concept was designed to be presented in front of a limited amount of visitors, if authorized by Public Health.

“The Salon du livre international de Québec has been able to show creativity and reinvent itself by offering a new way of connecting with the fascinating world of literature. We look forward to helping the team to use our facilities for their activities, said Mr. Bouchard. The new formula opens up great prospects for the future of the Salon du livre. And, for our part, we’re ready to welcome this hybrid event into our safe spaces.”
