Québec City present at WISE Work in Sports Exhibition in Lausanne
The 2nd annual WISE international convention for careers in sports took place this year in Lausanne, Switzerland, on May 6 and 7.
In attendance at WISE were more than 500 sports professionals and active and former athletes who play key roles in highlighting and promoting the “sport for all” motto. Representatives of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and international sports federation leaders were all there at this Mecca of sport.
Such a gathering could hardly go forward without a Québec City presence, and so sports market delegate Marc Magny of Québec City Business Destination was off to Lausanne to join in the talks and activities. At WISE he was building relationships with sports industry leaders and promoting Québec City as a leading sports event destination.
Promoting the Conversation 2015: Women and Sport conference
Magny was also busy drumming up interest among IOC Women and Sport Commission members in visiting Québec City for Conversation 2015: Women and Sport, coming up June 9 to 12 at Université Laval, particularly as the city targets a similar event for women and sports at the international level.
He received support in his efforts from Olympic medallist and IOC Women and Sport Commission member Donna De Verona and Canadian Olympic medallist and Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) board member Charmaine Crooks. The two influential athletes and WISE speakers both used the opportunity to sing Québec City’s praises.
