Québec City: Meeting place for the global aviation industry

Events

In February 2019, the Québec City Convention Centre will host Routes Americas, the world’s largest aviation industry forum. This annual event, to be held for the first time in Canada, will bring together over 1,000 aviation professionals representing more than 80 airlines, 300 airports, and 50 tourist bureaus to plan and negotiate the future of air travel.

As AQi President and CEO Gaëtan Gagné explained, “This is one of the aviation industry’s biggest and most prestigious events. Hosting it will certainly help Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport position its air services. It’s a unique opportunity to take a group of influential players from the global aviation industry and show them everything the Québec City region has to offer.”

Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) was selected ahead of five other airports from across the Americas to host the event. The bid for Routes Americas 2019 was headed up by Aéroport de Québec Vice-President of Marketing and Development Bernard Thiboutot and Director of Communications, Public Relations Mathieu Claise and Senior Counsellor, in collaboration with Québec City Convention Centre Sales Manager Marie-Elaine Lemieux.

“I would like to thank everyone who helped us book this major event. Routes Americas 2019 will position YQB as a world-class airport capable of rivalling the best in the industry,” Mr. Gagné added.

Twenty some public figures, including the Prime Minister of Canada and the Premier of Québec, supported the event, which will benefit the city, province, and country. In addition to generating almost 3,000 person-nights in the middle of the winter season and an estimated $1.5 million in economic spinoffs, the event will shine a light on the Québec City region for key players in the global aviation industry.

A delegation from Québec City will attend Routes Americas 2018 in Quito, Ecuador February 13–15 to promote the event.
