Québec City will host world congress on digital simulation

Destination and Attractions Events

Québec City has been selected by NAFEMS Germany decision-makers to host the next NAFEMS World Congress (NWC) form June 17 to 20, 2019, on digital simulation engineering, ahead of three other North American cities. No fewer than 700 researchers, academics, and manufacturing and technology specialists from some thirty countries will gather at the Québec City Convention Centre for the international association’s 2019 world congress, an opportunity to discover the city’s myriad attractions. The event will generate 2,100 room nights and have a $1.2 million economic impact on regional businesses.

The decision was made after NWC planners from Germany visited Québec City in September 2017. The Québec City Convention Centre’s International Sales Manager Jocelyn Guertin took them on a grand tour of the Convention Centre facilities and reception areas for social events, nearby hotels, and major tourist attractions in the region. The quality of the proposal and Québec City’s standing as a top Canadian convention destination tipped the scales in its favor.

Founded in 1983, NAFEMS is the International Association for the Engineering Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Community, a network of experts representing 1,300 member organizations from 43 different countries. In addition to their six annual congresses, NAFEMS holds a world congress every two years. Since 2005, the congress has been held alternately in Europe and North America. This will be the second Canadian edition of the event—the first took place in Vancouver in 2007.
