From July 11 to 13, 2023, the Québec City Convention Centre is pleased to participate in ACCESSE23, the prestigious annual conference of the Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives (CESSE). The event will take place in Detroit, Michigan, bringing together over 300 professionals from STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) societies.
The Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives (CESSE) is a large American society connecting all professionals in STEM societies: science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. CESSE offers its members learning and networking opportunities, conferences, webinars, and more. Cooperation between the Québec City Convention Centre and CESSE has helped attract major events to Québec City for these key industries and acquire new members for Québec City’s Ambassadors’ Club
“Since the Convention Centre opening in 1996, STEM-related conventions and conferences held at the Convention Centre have generated tens of millions of dollars in economic spin-offs for the Québec City region. Québec City, in particular, boasts the highest concentration of researchers per capita in Canada, making it a true destination for innovation and economic development. Key industries are well represented here, stimulating events and scientific innovations,” explained Pierre-Michel Bouchard, President and CEO of the Québec City Convention Centre.
Every year, the CESSE organizes two major events: an exclusive meeting for presidents and general managers in winter (CESSE CEO Meeting) and the annual conference, open to all members, in July (ACCESSE). In winter 2023, rather than handing out promotional items to attendees, the Convention Centre team promised to make a $1,000 donation in their names to Le Pignon Bleu. The donation came with messages of support aimed at encouraging young people.
“We are extremely touched and grateful for this initiative by the Québec City Convention Centre and CESSE. Giving back to the community is the greatest benefit that could be offered to families in our region. Thanks to this donation, 2,000 local children will be able to receive a morning snack at Le Pignon Bleu to fight poverty and food insecurity. Many thanks to the Convention Centre for enabling us to nourish young people on a daily basis, helping them grow up healthy and achieve their goals,” said Roseline Roussel, General Manager of Le Pignon Bleu.
