In a bid to attract business events held in Québec City, the Québec City’s Chamber of commerce and industry (CCIQ) and Québec City Business Destination (QDa), in partnership with the 17 QDa member hotels, today launched the Influential People campaign targeting the area’s business people and entrepreneurs.
Under the theme “You’re an influential person. In Québec City, your success makes history,” the campaign offers incentives for holding new events of at least two days and over 50 stays in participating Québec City hotels.
“With over 4,300 members from every sector of the economy, the Chamber of commerce is a network of business people with an incredible potential influence,” said Alain Aubut, president and CEO of CCIQ. “Today, we’re empowering them to reach their goals while contributing to the growth of business tourism in the Québec City area.”
P.-Michel Bouchard, president and CEO of the Québec City Convention Centre and president of QDa, is positive that attracting new business events to the area is a job for the influential people of Québec City. “For several years, members of the Amabassador’s Club, mostly Université Laval researchers and professors, have worked to attract international conferences to the area, to the benefit of our businesses. Now we’re inviting business people to capitalize on their networks and get involved in organizing and holding events in Québec City.”

With over 4,300 members, Québec City’s chamber of commerce and industry brings together local business people from every sector of the economy. It is the biggest group of business people in Eastern Québec. CCIQ’s mission is to be the preferred voice of Québec City’s entrepreneurs. The organization provides members a full package of services in four areas: networking, skill building, recognition of entreprenuerial success, and economic development.
Québec City Business Destination was founded in fall 2013 by merging the sales teams of Québec City Tourism and the Québec City Convention Centre into a single business tourism sales force. Guided by a strategic committee of decision makers, it works to attract conventions large and small, regardless of venue. This coordination of the efforts to sell and promote Québec City as a business tourism destination enhances everyone’s effectiveness.
