Québec City aims to host international conferences and sporting events
Québec was one of the 60 cities from across the globe in attendance at the second Smart Cities & Sport Summit, a World Union of Olympic Cities initiative. The Summit, held in Lausanne from October 12 to 14, welcomed organizers of sporting events, sports federation representatives, and municipal, regional, and national representatives interested in efficient, creative strategies for connecting sports and cities.
On a mission to establish and develop relationships with sports industry leaders at the Summit, Marc Magny, the Québec City Convention Centre’s delegate for international sporting conventions, travelled to Lausanne to promote Québec City. While in the Olympic capital, our delegate made many valuable contacts and also had the chance to present a video to sports federation representatives showcasing Québec City’s event and sports facilities. He also proudly represented Québec City at the first meeting of the future association of host cities for sporting events and conferences, attended by delegates from over 30 cities.
All the networking, meetings, and promoting done in Lausanne, combined with Québec City’s already enviable reputation as a host city for sporting events and conferences, paid off. The proof is that Marc has returned to Québec City with potential offers of four sports conferences and three sporting events. Who knows—Québec may one day be chosen to host the World Union of Olympic Cities’ fourth Smart Cities & Sport Summit!
