For nearly 25 years, the Québec City Convention Centre has maintained a privileged partnership with Université Laval, enabling scientists and researchers in the region to showcase their expertise and research fields by organizing international events and conferences.
For each international event organized by a member of the university community and held at the Québec City Convention Centre, a grant is donated to a Université Laval philanthropic fund. In 2024, three grants totaling $15,664 were given for the following events:
NetSci 2024
This international conference on network science attracted 488 delegates to Québec City in June 2024. Professor Antoine Allard and his colleague Laurent Hébert-Dufresne (University of Vermont), both members of the Québec City Ambassadors’ Club, both presiding over the event’s organizing committee, worked hard to ensure that Québec City was selected from among all the candidate cities. In their names, a $2,742 grant was donated by the Convention Centre to the Franco Rasetti Fund for students in the Department of Physics, Engineering Physics, and Optics. NetSci 2024 was also named Event of the Year at the Soirée Hommage aux ambassadeurs in January 2025.
World Congress on Inflammation (WCI2024)
In July 2024, this major life sciences congress attracted to Québec City 275 researchers and scientists from biotech, pharmaceutical and medical device companies from around the world.
