Conversation 2015 : Women and Sport in Québec City

At a press conference held at the Québec City Convention Centre on April 15, 2015, Université Laval and the City of Québec announced Québec City will host Conversation 2015: Women and Sport from June 9 to 12, 2015.

Presented under the theme Moving the World Forward – Making Change Happen, this national meeting will attract more than 400 participants from different professional backgrounds to discuss the place and role of girls and women in sport in Canada. The press conference was held in the presence of Chantal Petitclerc, gold medalist at the 2004 Olympic Games and 21-time Paralympic medalist, and Sylvie Bernier, 1984 Olympic gold medalist. 

The Cercle des ambassadeurs de Québec, supporter of Conversation 2015: Women and Sport, is proud to count among its members one of the most influential women in the world of female Canadian sports, Guylaine Demers, Director of the Sports Intervention Bachelor’s degree at Université Laval, and Chairwoman of the organization committee for Conversation 2015. Ms Demers is an excellent meeting ambassador for Québec City, specifically for future international meetings on women in sports.

Through its financial support program « Speakers », the Cercle des ambassadeurs enabled Conversation 2015 to confirm Marja Ruotanen, Director of Human Dignity and Equality at the Council of Europe, one of the continent’s leading human rights organization, as an expert speaker during the meeting. She is added to the prestigious list of guests who will act as experts during the various workshops to foster exchanges between participants. The objective is to find concrete solutions to recurring problems faced by girls and women in Québec and Canadian sport systems.
