The Society for Psychophysiological Research (SPR) has chosen Québec City to host its 58th annual meeting. Some six hundred researchers and professionals in the field of psychophysiology from the world over will gather at the Québec City Convention Centre October 3–7, 2018.
Québec City beat out Denver, Colorado for the 2018 edition of the event. This is great news for Québec―SPR’s most recent meetings in Canada were held in 2006 in Vancouver and 2001 in Montréal.
The U.S. scientific organization’s choice was the result of a successful exploratory visit in January 2016 with Jean Chiricota, a Québec City Convention Centre official. Québec City’s legendary charm captivated Jane Shepard from The Rees Group, the American company tasked with organizing the event.
Held in Europe every four years, SPR’s annual meeting will next take place in Vienna in 2017. Lisbon (2005), Berlin (2009), and Florence (2013) have also played host to the large-scale international event.
Founded in 1960, SPR has over 800 members worldwide and is affiliated with the Association for Psychological Science (APS), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and the Health and Behavior Alliance.
