Key Highlights of 2023-2024

This year, the Québec City Convention Centre welcomed over 220,000 visitors, nearly 20,000 more than the previous year, for a total of 193 events. Achieving a new milestone, the Centre recorded event revenues of $11 million, contributing an estimated $165 million in economic spin-offs for the Québec City region.

“We’ve set a new record in terms of event revenues and economic spin-offs for the region,” says Pierre-Michel Bouchard, President and CEO of the Québec City Convention Centre.

But how could such figures be achieved after 2 years of “pause” and uncertainty caused by a global pandemic? Precisely because it wasn’t a pause for the Québec City Convention Centre team. Great upstream work and strategies paid off, leading to this spectacular recovery. Our efforts included tailored action plans, effective marketing campaigns, the development of new tools to enhance visibility, unparalleled customer support, event postponements at no charge, and the remarkable versatility and adaptability of our sales and customer care teams.

In 2023-2024, we witnessed firsthand how the expertise of our team sets us apart and ensures the success of every event. Our employees’ steadfastness, industry knowledge, and collaborative spirit with other departments and suppliers guarantee peace of mind for our customers and success in event execution,” adds Mr. Bouchard.

Leadership in Sustainable Development

Sustainable development has always been a cornerstone of the Centre’s operations since its inception in 1996. Over the years, various initiatives have been implemented, including waste management, GHG emissions reduction, energy efficiency improvements, and eco-friendly event practices. Obtaining the Biosphere certification, an international sustainability management system operating in over 77 countries, attests to the Convention Centre’s leadership in sustainable development.

We are proud to be the first convention centre in North America to achieve Biosphere certification, complementing our existing certifications such as LEED® Canada-CI (gold level), LEED® BE (silver level), and BOMA BEST (level 3). We were already doing so much to qualify for the Biosphere program that we didn’t have to change anything; we simply collected the information. Our commitment to eco-responsible actions will continue to evolve each year as we strive to maintain our status,” explains Mr. Bouchard.

In 2023-2024, the Centre also placed a greater emphasis on celebrating local products, a green practice further promoted by their exclusive food service partner. Through a revamped menu and brand image, Maestro Culinaire is more than ever grounded in its values inspired by the rich culture of Québec and its passion for local terroir.
