16th OWHC World Congress
From September 7 to 9, 2022, the Québec City Convention Centre welcomes the 16th World Congress of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC).
Created in 1991, the OWHC is made up of more than 300 cities that have a site inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List and a population of more than 164 million people. Within the Organization, these cities are represented by their mayors and enjoy the active participation of municipal heritage managers. The main objectives of the OWHC are to favor the implementation of the World Heritage Convention, to encourage cooperation and the exchange of expertise on matters of urban heritage conservation and management, and to develop a sense of solidarity among its member cities.
The previous edition of the Congress was held in June 2019 in Krakow, Poland. This year’s theme is “Enhancing Livability in World Heritage Cities” and is intended to be an evolving and participative approach that will offer member cities an innovative intervention framework for the years to come:
